Mounaineering Clubs

Mountaineering clubs exist for people who have an interest in mountaineering so they can meet with other like minded people. Most mountaineering clubs exist for the sole purpose of allowing their members to go on expeditions together, and many clubs, particularly the more established ones, will be able to organise trips for their members.

As mountaineering is a potentially dangerous activity it is unwise to attempt an ascent by oneself, it is for this reason that mountaineering clubs are very popular as the large group of people are then able to engage in more challenging expeditions further afield.

Many mountaineering clubs are able to offer courses and training to their members. Due to the dangers that may sometimes arise in mountaineering it is important to have an appropriate level of safety training and survival skills. First aid courses are often made available to members of mountaineering clubs to ensure their safety whilst on expeditions.

Some of the more established mountaineering clubs will have a selection of equipment that they may be able to lend or hire out at a discounted rate to their members. This is one the main advantages of a mountaineering club for many people who are unable to afford the appropriate equipment, which is frequently very expensive. Also an established mountaineering club may own property near a prime location for mountaineering and they will be able to take their members their or hire the property out at reasonable rates to them.
